David Jordan hits our Country Roads

David Jordan hits our Country Roads

Part of the teams training for the Three Peaks Challenge is to end ergo endurance training to help us keep on top of the training and help us prepare for the challenge that lies in front of us next year.

David's Country Challenge

David wanted to see what my cycling route was like and asked if he could tag along, naturally i agreed, i picked up his bike and headed back to the starting line, which was situated in middle Winterslow.

The journey starts off with what i call the 'training triangle' which is a steep hill followed by various other challenging hills which in my opinion gets the heart pumping and legs stretched.

Then comes the pleasant 10 mile cycle through villages like East Tytherly, West Tytherly, lockerly and Dean.

The beauty of all these villages are amazing, the views are outstanding, all of these villages are surrounded by fields.

After being stuck by outstanding views we continue the cycle through  Bentley Woods which again is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

When we come out and headed across some fields the dirt tracks eventually lead us to our last mammoth hill of the journey, this really was tough after 90 mins of cycling this felt really hard, when we got past that barrier we came to the final stretch which is a down hill sprint to the finish.

It was an amazing cycle and i really enjoyed Davids company, very motivational when the pain kicked in.

Sports Tracker, ideal for gprs tracking whilst training

Helping you train better since 2004

Sports Tracker is an award-winning application and online service developed by a passionate team of outdoor sports enthusiasts and mobile experts, in cooperation with our users.
We’re on a mission here: we want to help people train better, connect through sports, and live healthier, happier lives. And we want to do this using mobile phones: the fact is, after all, that most outdoor enthusiasts already have sports computers their pockets in the form of smartphones – those gadgets just need to be activated with the right application.

By joining the Sports Tracker service and downloading the free application to your smartphone, you’ll launch your training to a whole new level. Easily track and analyze your exercises and have fun training by sharing your workouts and photos with your friends and other similar-minded people via the Sports Tracker community, Facebook and Twitter. You’ll enjoy monitoring the development of your progress like never before.
Sports Tracker is one of Nokia Ovi Store’s most downloaded applications, with millions of downloads from more than 200 countries. The combined tracked distance by our users reached a whopping 130 million kilometers in September 2011.
And the distance is increasing ever more rapidly, with the introduction of our iPhoneAndroid and Windows Phone applications.

A bit about our background

We started Sports Tracker in 2004 while working at Nokia. Our application was the first of its kind for mobile phones, so we can safely say the we’re the category founder and leader in our field. Our original vision was to come up with an easy and fun training application that would help people train better and connect them with each other.
Back then there were no phones with GPS, no smart phones, no Google maps. But like runners preparing for a marathon, we knew that if we’d just sweat it out, we’d reach our goal.
And here we are seven years later on our own (after a successful spin-off from Nokia). As of today, after millions of downloads and with an ever-increasing group of active trackers worldwide, we’re still the same sports enthusiasts and mobile geeks ourselves who want to carry on developing Sports Tracker and help people train better and enjoy themselves.

What a nice place to train 'The Beach'

dorset
Walking Along the Beach
what a nice way to train

Distance between them is 6.8 miles

Sandbanks Beach

Thought to be Poole's number one beach, Sandbanks is the winner of more blue flag awards than any other British beach. Situated just four miles from Poole centre on the Sandbanks Peninsula the beach, a five kilometre stretch of golden sand, is a bustling haven for swimmers, children and water sports enthusiasts alike.

Southbourne Beach

On the other side of Henigstbury Head is Southbourne, home to a part-sand, part-shingle beach popular with local families and surfers. The beach is large, safe and quiet with regular bus and train services from Boscombe and easy access to cliff paths.

The distance of a return trip is 13.6 miles, this is only half the distance of the Three Peaks Challenge but what a place to start training on long distance walking.!!

Challenge inspired by Grandparents

An adventurer from Middle Winterslow is preparing to take on the three highest mountains in Britain to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Challenge inspired by grandparents Chris Brown, 28, hopes undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge in August next year, will raise around £3000 for the charity.

He said: “I’m doing this event for my dad and my late granddad who both had skin cancer, my gran who had breast cancer and my other granddad who has been diagnosed with lung cancer.
“My grandparents mean a lot to me as they were there when I was growing up, we spent most of our summers with them and they were always there for us when we needed them.”

Chris Brown (Training in Winterslow)

Training in Winterslow

I'm lucky to be in the middle of a beautiful country side so i have loads places to cycle as well as walk, My favourite place to cycle is in Bentley woods, you have the views and tricky terrain of the woods and when you come out of the woods you then get the beautiful views of fields.

When i go out i always pack the essentials :-
  • First Aid Kit
  • Bottle of water 2ltrs just in case
  • waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Fully charged mobile phone
  • a case containing 6 Sim cards so i can get signal where ever i'm
  • a pump in case of a flat tyre
  • emergency patch repair kit

When i do go out i think a lot, reflect allot and i believe its a really great way to not only get fit and exercise you body but also to help you clear your head. That's why i love taking photos when I'm out cycling and walking because it reminds me that life isn't all about working, its about living life to the max, treating each day as its your last!!

.

As you Can see i love cycling and I'm going to continue to do so as part of my training for the Three Peaks Challenge.
